Tonight, Biden will be delivering his state of the union address. And with millions of Black, brown and immigrant lives continuing to be left on the line, the state of our union couldn’t be any more clear: Biden and Democrats in Congress have failed our communities.

Despite their inaction, we – young Black, brown, immigrant people and allies – have stepped up to keep each other safe. And right now, we’re stepping up again to make our demands heard.

Friend, our communities need permanent protections. This past year, we’ve fought tirelessly to see a win for millions and we’ve faced challenge after challenge. Promises to protect our communities and deliver citizenship, to end private detention, and rescind Trump-era policies like Title 42 and the Remain in Mexico Policy have gone unfulfilled by the Biden administration.

Yet, we supported each other through mutual aid networks. We delivered policies at the state and local levels to provide additional financial support for immigrants. And we helped to reunite families impacted by the deportation machine. We must continue to come together and hold Biden and Congress accountable for failing to deliver.
