[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont

Hello,

I’m grateful for the folks like you who continue to power this team. I’m
running for Senate because I love Vermont and the way Vermonters choose to
get involved in their communities, listen to their neighbors, and work
together to find solutions.

Today gives us an incredible example of Vermont’s unique approach: Town
Meeting Day. A form of government that exists nowhere else in the world
outside of New England, Town Meeting Day involves direct democracy in
action. It’s a beautiful display of civic engagement — a government shaped
by the governed — a right that we need to protect.

It’s no secret that our country’s democracy is imperiled.

We’re witnessing unprecedented attacks on voting rights and the peaceful
transfer of power. Our government should be making it easier to exercise
your right to vote, not engaging in extreme efforts to disenfranchise
voters of color — but that’s what Republican legislators are focused on
and working to do across the country.

American democracy as we know it is on the ballot this November. But I
know that with you on our team, we can win this critical fight.

So thank you once again. I’m proud to be working with you.

Peter
