Today is ONE’s Virtual Advocacy Day, where a group of ONE activists from across the country are in meetings with members of Congress and their staff.

They will be asking for a commitment to $17bn in supplementary COVID funding – to help prepare for potential future aggressive variants by getting more vaccine doses in arms in lower-income countries.

This is essential if we’re going to stop the virus from continuing to wreak worldwide havoc, and the more of us who can put pressure on them to act, the better our chances of securing a commitment.

We’re asking Congress to be bold and to look at the worsening situation. An investment now would provide more vaccine doses to low income countries, enhance the delivery systems needed to get doses into arms, and supply the treatments needed to save lives now. Without it, the risk of more variants and economic disruption remains a threat at home and around the world.
