Dear Friend,

Yesterday, the U.S. took bold action and brought the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) to the Senate floor for a vote. This is the first time in decades that the Senate took a vote on a proactive abortion bill. Despite our best efforts, WHPA did not pass the Senate.

While we’re disappointed, we’re not defeated. This was simply one of many battles to come. This is why we need bold, young people like you who will continue the fight. We know that with you, we will win this fight for Reproductive Justice. The fact that this was voted on is historic and we will keep demanding REAL Abortion Access.

The work you are doing in your communities is vital and we will continue to work alongside you. Whether you’re in Kansas, Ohio, California, Georgia, Alabama, or Texas- we know you’re mobilizing for a world where our autonomy and lives are respected and realized.

As we continue our federal policy work, await a Supreme Court decision this Spring or Summer on constitutional protection for abortion, and monitor bills in state legislative sessions, we will update you with ways to get engaged.

In Solidarity,

Desireé Luckey (she/her), URGE Director of Policy

Monica Edwards (she/her), URGE Federal Policy Manager
