In a minute we are going to ask you to support Equality Florida in their effort to stop the “Don’t Say Gay” Bill, but first we want to tell you why.

As you may have heard, right now there is a bill in Florida that, if signed into law, would ban any discussion of sexual orientation or gender identity in schools and even encourages fellow citizens to sue schools if they claim the ban has been violated.

It’s divisive and it’s dangerous.

Our community was founded around the simple notion of belonging. That Americans of every background, creed, and identity ought to be able to build a life that brings them joy and meaning.

Extreme efforts like this would send a dark and harmful message to every child, no matter who they are or what their family looks like, and we cannot let that happen.

Will you please donate to Florida Equality today so we can stop this bill in its tracks and before it snowballs nationwide?

In the coming days, the Florida Senate will vote on this bill and we have a real chance to stop it. The good news is that we can put a halt this kind of extremism.

A majority of Floridian’s don’t support this bill — and a defeat here will send a message loud and clear everywhere that bigotry of any form has no place in our classrooms or our country.

We’ve demonstrated before that when we work together we can create real change.
