Friend,
Tonight, President Biden will give his first State of the Union address to the American people.
Let’s be real — these are unpredictable times. As we continue to navigate our way out of a global pandemic, life hasn’t been easy for anyone.
Nevertheless, there’s still cause for hope. Over the last year, the Biden-Harris administration and the Democratic majority in Congress passed the American Rescue Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — providing urgent relief to families impacted by COVID, rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, reducing child poverty, and much more.
And just days ago, President Biden delivered on his promise to appoint the first Black woman to the Supreme Court by nominating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to our nation’s highest court.
During his speech tonight, we’re eager to hear Biden’s vision to combat climate change, protect reproductive rights, aid borrowers struggling with student debt, and safeguard our fundamental democratic principles.
Before you tune in tonight, we’d love to hear from you about how you and your loved ones are faring. Let us know: What do you hope to hear from President Biden?
Admittedly, we faced several setbacks last year. Thanks to Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema’s obstruction in the Senate, we came a few votes short of reforming the filibuster to protect voting rights and passing the largest investment in climate action in history.
This year, Democrats must unify around a historic, progressive agenda and finally get these critical pieces of legislation to President Biden’s desk. Tonight, President Biden must lay out his blueprint to get that done.
But the State of the Union is not only about what’s happening in Washington — it’s also about how everyday Americans are feeling about the future.
Take our short survey: Tell us what you hope to hear from President Biden’s first State of the Union address tonight.
Thank you,
NextGen America
