Israel, Gaza Terrorists Call Shaky Truce [link removed]
The Times of Israel / 2-minute read
Overnight rocket fire violated an unofficial cease-fire between Israel and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists in Gaza, prolonging a conflict that began when Israel targeted one of the terrorist group’s commanders. Palestinian militants fired more than 450 rockets toward Israel, setting off sirens and forcing civilians throughout much of southern Israel to seek shelter. Elected officials, both Republicans and Democrats, took to Twitter, expressing concern for Israel and its right to defend itself. AJC tweeted: [link removed] “We are deeply grateful to all members of the United States Congress who have expressed support for our ally, Israel, as it comes under relentless attack by terrorist groups in Gaza. True friendship is tested in times of need. Israel is fortunate to have friends like you.” Read more [link removed]

AJC Global Voice / 1-minute read
Knowing the history of antisemitic tropes and how to avoid them is the first step to fighting the increasing hatred of Jews, which is why AJC this week published a glossary of two dozen terms that defines and explains how they become antisemitic when used in a certain context. Religion News Service / 2-minute read
On Tuesday, the FBI revealed data showing that Jews were the target of a stunning 57.8 percent of all religious bias crimes in 2018, despite making up less than 2 percent of the U.S. population. Of the 7,120 total hate crimes reported last year [link removed], 1,550 were motivated by religious bias, and the majority of those — 57.8% — were anti-Jewish. But according to AJC’s survey on antisemitism [link removed], many Jews don’t report it. Join the Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council, co-convened by AJC and the Islamic Society of North America [link removed], in calling on Congress to pass the No Hate Act to improve and encourage hate crime reporting. On the Frontlines of Progressive Antisemitism [link removed]
The New York Times / 2-minute read
Blake Flayton, a gay abortion rights advocate and environmentalist, has always considered himself part of the progressive political movement. But at George Washington University, where Flayton is a sophomore and where the student government last year passed a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions proposal, Flayton now finds himself marginalized by his own political circles. Why? He supports the State of Israel. He has encountered antisemitism at rallies for fair wages, political club meetings and on social media. AJC tweeted: [link removed] “Too many students share the experience of isolation @BlakeFlayton describes … Excluding Jewish voices isn't just antisemitic, it does a serious disservice to the discourse at our universities.” Read more [link removed]
