Hi John:
We're currently in the middle of celebrating our International LGBTQ Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. and North Carolina Representative Deb Butler and former Peruvian Congressman Alberto de Belaunde just received the 2019 Tammy Baldwin Breakthrough Award:

Representative Butler and Congressman de Belaunde have earned this award through dedicated hard work for their communities. In 2019, they both displayed why they're rising stars with promising political careers. They spoke truth to power: Deb risked arrest on the floor of the North Carolina House while protesting. Alberto resigned from his political party during Peru's recent political instability to denounce corruption and demand accountability and transparency. They both are a testament to the power of an openly LGBTQ elected official.
As I look around the room, I'm struck by the power and diversity of our LGBTQ elected officials and leaders. This conference grew from a small gathering of a handful of LGBTQ elected officials to a major event with more than 550 leaders and allies gathering from countries around the world.
We've dramatically increased LGBTQ representation since our first conference. We've trained new slates of LGBTQ leaders that now hold offices around the world. And in 2020, we won't be slowing down. But to keep growing, we need your help. Chip in today and help us train, mobilize and gather more LGBTQ leaders. [[link removed]]
