With everything going on in the world this February, I don’t feel bad saying that campaign fundraising was not a top priority of mine over the past month.
I’ve been closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine, as innocent people flee in the wake of Russia’s invasion.
I’m still working with colleagues to see how we can send legislation to President Biden’s desk that will deliver material relief to working families.
I’m eagerly supporting Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson — who President Biden nominated to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court left by Justice Breyer — during her confirmation process. Once confirmed, she will become the first ever Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court!
And as my team has mentioned, I’m making preparations to run in a newly drawn congressional district this year — California’s 12th.
All that to say, it hasn’t been a month that lends itself to taking time to focus on campaign fundraising — but that’s okay.
Understandably, we’re pacing well behind on our fundraising goals for February. And while we might not have enough time to make up the gap, my team’s insisting that I ask you one last time if you’d be willing to help us out.
Because the truth is, we still have competitive elections to win, and the GOP dark money machine hasn’t slowed down one bit.
