Hi John,
Last week I gave a press conference on voting rights as well as Ron DeSantis’ Election Police Bill and in case you missed it, I wanted you to be the first to know, John.
The measure of a healthy democracy is the participation of the voters. We should be making it easier for every lawful vote to count, and for every voice to be heard.
This bill is a slap in the face to those of us who care about the sanctity of our democratic process. The fact that my Republican colleagues in the Senate are pushing such a disastrous piece of legislation is deeply shameful.
While I was able to add two critical amendments – one which institutes a fine for those who illegally tamper with voter registrations and the other that removed the requirement for voters to provide the last 4 digits of your social security number – I will be standing firmly against the bill.
And while Florida’s Republican majority means it will in all likelihood pass, I can tell you this, John:
I will never stop fighting for voting rights. And I hope – I’m asking you – to join me in that fight.
Will you sign your name to join my fight to protect the voting rights of every Floridian?
Thank you,
Annette
