Jack, earlier GOP obstructed our bill to expand and protect voting rights in New Mexico unfortunately. What’s more, this month, federal voting rights legislation also stalled with the threat of a filibuster.
It's one thing for a bill to fail because it doesn't have the votes, but it's ridiculous not to even debate on the bill so a vote doesn't even happen.
We cannot give up fighting to expand voting rights – not only in New Mexico but our entire country. The people who are afraid of voters voting are the people afraid of losing their jobs by being voted out of office. That is a fact – not fake news, not a rumor. Voters vote people out who do not serve them.
The New Mexico GOP did not serve the people of New Mexico by obstructing this bill without any debate on the floor.
