I need to be honest.

When I first read the new Republican ‘Save America’ plan, I burst out laughing. It was hard to believe this was a serious set of proposals from a major political party. If anything, it read like a Mad magazine spoof on political messaging.

But the more I looked at it, the more furious I became.

The party of Donald Trump was revealing its true colors and the contempt it holds for hardworking Americans, seniors, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, and our democratic institutions.

Folks, it’s a vile document, not worthy of the party of Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt. But it is certainly worthy of the party of Donald Trump.

It shows how far the GOP has fallen over the past five years, captured by fanatics ready to burn everything down to further their right-wing agenda.

But here’s the bottom line concern for me, team.

The ‘Save America’ plan goes hand-in-hand with what Republicans in Congress and state legislatures across the country are already doing: suppressing votes, gerrymandering districts, and stripping away our rights to make reproductive health choices or gender identity decisions.

We can’t allow the GOP to impose right-wing dogma on decent, hardworking Americans. I’m going to continue standing up to Republican attempts to destroy the progress we’re making.
