Hi John,
Black History Month is a special time to recognize all the amazing contributions Black people have made to build this country. As it comes to a close this week, we wanted to make sure you got a look at the content we worked on in partnership with several Black artists and musicians to honor and celebrate this month. |
The Fight for the Black Vote |
With the end of the Civil War, the futures of four million formerly enslaved Americans hung in the balance, including questions of citizenship and the right to vote. After years of pre-and-post-war abolitionist organizing, the 15th Amendment to the US Constitution was introduced in 1868, guaranteeing that the right to vote could not be denied based on "race, color, or previous condition of servitude." The fight for Black Americans’ right to vote has raged on ever since. Want to help us protect the right to vote this Black History Month? Check out this post on our Instagram, and then make sure you’re registered and ready to vote.
