Friend,
Thank you for being part of Team Rashida. Together, we’re building a world with love at the center, where we recognize our shared humanity and act in solidarity with the most vulnerable among us.
Did you know that Rashida was one of only six brave progressive members of Congress who held the line to pass the Build Back Better Act, including the Child Tax Credit which lifted millions of children out of poverty?
Sadly, just in the past month since the credit expired, the child poverty rate climbed up by 40%.
This shows how essential Rashida’s voice in Congress is. And she’s not backing down. She’s more fired up than ever, and is continuing to fight for the transformative legislation that our communities need to thrive.
We’ve got to keep Rashida in Congress. Can you donate today to our re-election campaign?

P.S. There’s a lot of confusion about Rashida’s work with Build Back Better, so we want to explain more.
For months, the House Progressive Caucus worked with the Biden administration to ensure that Senator Joe Manchin would pass the bold Build Back Better agenda. Their plan was to tie the bill to Manchin’s priority legislation, an infrastructure bill supported by the fossil fuel industry.
But Rashida was one of only six members of Congress who stuck to this plan, voting against the infrastructure bill until Congress first passed Build Back Better.
Unfortunately, what she and others predicted came true: Once the infrastructure bill passed, we no longer had leverage, and Senator Manchin blocked Build Back Better, which included the hugely-successful Child Tax Credit.
Although our movement faced a huge setback, Rashida is still fighting for the Build Back Better agenda… stay tuned for more!

Friend,
Nearly 4 million children slipped into poverty last month, after the $300/month Child Tax Credit expired at the end of 2021.
For the majority of families in my district, who were already struggling to pay bills before the pandemic, the Child Tax Credit (CTC) has been a critical lifeline.
Last year, we expanded the CTC as part of President Biden’s COVID relief legislation. After seeing how effectively it lifted families out of poverty, I was one of only six members of Congress who held the line to pass the Build Back Better Act, which included the expanded Child Tax Credit.
I took political risks to push for this program and for other bold anti-poverty legislation, and I’m not backing down.
Can you chip in today so I can keep my seat in Congress fighting for you?
I’m continuing to fight for President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, including in next week’s response to his State of the Union, which I’m giving next Tuesday with the Working Families Party. We’re going to keep working to pass this agenda so that everyone can thrive.
I also co-introduced a bill this month with Rep. Mondaire Jones called the End Child Poverty Act. This new legislation would create a universal, monthly child allowance of nearly $400 per child.
It would cover all children, including the lowest-wealth families who are traditionally left out of the tax credit system. The People’s Policy Project estimates that this bill would cut deep child poverty by 70%.
We have the resources in this country to end childhood poverty. There are no excuses. It’s infuriating that despite being the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, the United States is failing to feed, house, or care for the children who call this country home.
Can you chip in what you can today so I can stay in Congress fighting for our children and for our communities to thrive?

Ever since I started serving in Congress, I’ve been disappointed by the lack of urgency among my colleagues to make the big changes our communities need.
I bring that sense of urgency to all my work here, because I’ve been an activist for years alongside people who cannot wait any longer.
One of the reasons I’m able to stick to my values is because I don’t take a dime from corporate PACs. I’ve been able to run for Congress, and to keep my seat, because of people like you supporting me with donations.
Thank you for all you do,
Rashida
