This is an exciting and historic moment, and we can't wait to celebrate it with you and share our strategy for the campaign to come. – People For's Digital Team ----[previous message (times updated)]---- Dear People For supporter, We just made history: President Biden has nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to be our next Supreme Court justice. The first Black woman ever nominated to America’s highest court, Judge Jackson’s sterling judicial record and lived experience will bring a vital new perspective to the Court as it considers cases on a multitude of issues that affect our daily lives. This Monday, February 28, at 8:30 PM ET (7:30 PM CT / 5:30 PM PT), please join me and People For courts experts in celebration of Judge Jackson’s nomination as we look forward to the confirmation fight ahead of us and how you can get involved. This is an incredibly joyful moment in our nation’s history, which we should celebrate. Judge Jackson has a deep and demonstrated commitment to civil rights. On the federal bench, she has shown her commitment to upholding laws that protect people with disabilities, workers, immigrants, and freedom of speech. As a former public defender, she brings to the Supreme Court the perspective of someone who has seen the justice system through the eyes of our society’s most vulnerable. Her lived experience as a Black woman enriches her perspective about how the legal system affects people’s rights and lives, and is greatly needed on our highest court. This is a defining and long overdue moment for our country. We will need to make sure that as many senators as possible vote to confirm Judge Jackson to the bench, so your advocacy during the next part of this campaign will be key to our success. Judge Jackson’s nomination lets millions of Americans, especially Black women and girls, see someone like them on our highest court. This is a chance for all of us to look up at the Supreme Court and know that someone on its bench truly understands our daily lives and will work to deliver justice for all. I can’t wait to fight and win this historic victory by your side. Thank you for all that you do. I hope to see you online at 8:30 PM ET this Monday, – Ben Jealous, President
