Allies,

I wanted to make sure you saw this. The U.S. Senate is voting on the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA) today.

When enacted, WHPA will ensure abortion is accessible to everyone, everywhere, free from the medically unnecessary restrictions that anti-abortion lawmakers rely on to push this essential care out of reach.

The right to abortion is already meaningless in the state of Texas and the U.S. Supreme Court is considering a case that could gut the right to abortion nationwide. It’s more important than ever that WHPA be enacted to make sure that this essential health care is accessible in every state. This is the moment we've been working toward for years.

Please don't wait. Contact your senators right now and tell them to ACT FOR ABORTION ACCESS!

Sincerely,

Nancy Northup
President & CEO

Allies,

In 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives took a historic vote and passed the Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA), marking the first time in history that the House has ever passed stand-alone legislation specifically designed to protect the right to abortion access nationwide.

Last week, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Schumer took the first procedural step to getting a vote on WHPA. This vital legislation will be brought to a vote on February 28 and it's time to act to ensure it becomes a reality.

Since September 1, 2021, the right to abortion has been meaningless in the state of Texas, and the U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering a case that could gut the right to abortion nationwide. The Senate must vote to protect abortion rights and access in every state.

The people hurt most by both the Texas abortion ban and all abortion restrictions are those who already face barriers to accessing health care—particularly Black, Indigenous and People of Color, women, and those working to make ends meet. In an equitable and just society, all health care, including abortion, is accessible for everyone—not just those in certain states or those with the means to travel.

Defend reproductive rights for all.

We need a federal law that protects access to abortion care for ALL. We need WHPA. Tell your senator to act for abortion access today by asking them to pass WHPA!

Onward,
