Friends -- this month is the 59th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall -- but some of us still haven’t learned the lesson that walls can only divide us.
As the daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants who came here to open up a world of opportunities for me and my brother, I can confidently say this: Donald Trump’s border wall is bullshit.
Instead of making any effort to fix our broken immigration system, the president is implementing a costly, racist policy intended to punish anyone and everyone who wants to make a better life in our country.
We need immigrant and first-generation voices in our Congress so we can reject disgusting and ineffective policies like the border wall. If you’re on board, I’m asking you to make a $10 or $15 to my people-powered, Democratic campaign. >>
Almost every single person in this country is a descendent of immigrants, including Donald Trump himself.
But he’s made it clear that he only has a problem with immigrants who aren’t white.
We can’t combat his white nationalist policies and rhetoric if we don’t have strong voices to support diversity in our country -- especially people of color. Can you pitch in to help me win this election so I can get to work Congress? >>
Thanks for being a part of my team,
Nabilah
