On the Agenda: President Joe Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court is a radical leftist who does not deserve a lifetime appointment. We explain why. And now that Russia has invaded Ukraine, we look at what the U.S. should do, and why. We also offer a roadmap to a balanced budget and uncover facts about COVID that the left would rather keep buried. There are also events and podcasts that you don’t want to miss. All this, and more, is in this week’s Agenda.
Senate Should Reject Biden’s Radical Supreme Court Pick
The news: President Joe Biden announced his pick for the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, and while left-wing special interest groups are happy, nobody else should be.
A Supreme failure: Heritage President Kevin Roberts said that Biden “utterly failed” with this appointment, and not just because he only considered black women to replace retiring Justice Steven Breyer.
Deeply troubling: “Ketanji Brown Jackson is the most radical judge ever nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court,” Roberts said, with a record that "reveals a deeply troubling pattern and raises questions about her ability to be a fair and impartial judge.” You can read his full statement here <[link removed]>.
What you need to know: Heritage’s John Malcolm, vice president of our Institute for Constitutional Government, outlines the criteria senators should use to evaluate Jackson—and why her judicial philosophy raises concerns. Read his article <[link removed]>.
A far-left pick: Radical special interest groups are celebrating Biden’s choice. The Daily Signal reveals <[link removed]> the sordid details other media outlets aren’t reporting.
Just say no: Heritage Action is calling on senators to reject her nomination. Read the statement <[link removed]>.
China Is Watching How We Respond to Ukraine
In the news: To virtually no one’s surprise, after weeks of building up armed forces along Ukraine’s border, Russia pulled the trigger on a military invasion.
What comes next: Ukraine’s fate is far from certain, but what is certain is that the U.S. must now respond to the situation, for our own sake as much as Ukraine’s.
Why it matters: “This conflict is about far more than Russia and Ukraine,” says Heritage President Kevin Roberts. “It is about whether America’s adversaries, especially the Chinese Communist Party, will look at the United States ... as a formidable adversary, or a weakening and irresolute superpower.” Read Roberts’ full statement here <[link removed]>.

Heritage Releases a Roadmap to Restoring Fiscal Sanity
What’s new: Heritage is out with its “Budget Blueprint 2022 <[link removed]>,” a comprehensive roadmap for policymakers to reduce out-of-control federal
spending, restore fiscal sanity to Washington, and balance the budget in 10 years.
Why we need this: Federal spending exploded in recent years. That, coupled with a disastrous response to COVID-19, has caused myriad problems, from stagflation to extreme government overreach in our education system. Left unchecked, this reckless approach to federal spending will be ruinous for our country.
Hope for the future: In the “Budget Blueprint,” Heritage experts not only identify the problems but offer more than 200 reforms to restore America’s fiscal future.

Heritage Examines COVID Data ... and the Authoritarian Left Won’t Like What We Found
Did it work? Governments took unprecedented steps to contain COVID-19’s spread. How successful were they? Hard data show that they failed to stop COVID’s spread, but did cause enormous social, economic, and political harm.
Real misinformation: Worse, official statements about hospitalizations, immunity, and about this being a “pandemic of the unvaccinated” were highly misleading.
Stop the madness: “Perpetuating the national emergency mindset is futile, misguided, and infeasible, especially given what the data indicate,” write Kevin Dayaratna, principal statistician at the Center for Data Analysis, and Doug Badger, senior fellow for domestic policy studies, in a special report <[link removed]>.
Get the facts: Their report, chock full of charts and tables, can be found here <[link removed]>. In a related op-ed, senior fellow Robert Moffit details the federal government’s “long, shameful record of failures in battling COVID <[link removed]>.
