I hope you believe me when I say that we all play an important part in
determining the future of our country, and how the history books will
portray the times we’re living in. That’s the beauty of living in a
democracy. And my sincere hope for our country is that we’ll relegate
Donald Trump and his cronies like Kevin McCarthy to the dustbin of
history.

When our grandkids and future generations read the chapters about the
present day, I hope they will be reading about how we fought tirelessly to
address the climate crisis, defend reproductive rights, enshrine voting
protections, and above all, protect our democracy.

Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy will be relegated to the footnotes, or a
chapter at most, on how our democracy almost fell apart because Americans
like you held them accountable for their abuses of power and fought to
uphold the foundation of our country.

This is my wish for our country, but I hope it means something to you too.
I will always speak out about Trump and the GOP’s injustices but it will
always be more powerful when it comes from you too.

Your voice, your hope, and your passion helped us elect the first
Democratic-controlled Congress in 12 years in 2020. And we sent a clear
and definite message to Donald Trump and the GOP that the American people
are ready for a new era of leadership. One that works for all Americans.
