Crews are continuing to clear floodwater around Nottingham today (Friday) to help keep the city moving.

Heavy rainfall across the region yesterday led to issues in the city centre and some neighbourhoods.

Nottingham City Council crews were out late into the evening attending highway flooding issues.

City Council sets out its 2020s vision for Nottingham

A plan which sets out Nottingham City Councils priorities and ambitions for the start of a new decade has been published.

The Council Plan for 2019-2023 was signed off by councillors at a City Council meeting on 11 November. A resolution had previously been passed by the Council in May adopting the policies outlined in the Plan.

Cranes in the air mean jobs on the ground for local people

Cranes in the air are not only a symbol of the regeneration of Nottingham, they also mean jobs for well over 1,000 people.

The transformation of Nottinghams Southside is fully underway and even before the new developments have been completed, the benefits of the development are being realised through the construction jobs that have been generated.

To date, the redevelopment work has brought over 1,000 jobs to Nottingham, with over 50% of these taken up by Nottingham and Nottinghamshire residents across a range of roles.

School is not out for election day in Nottingham

No schools in Nottingham City will close to become polling stations at the General Election, in a pioneering move by the City Council to prevent an impact on childrens learning.

Around a decade ago, most schools in Nottingham like elsewhere would close for elections, because Returning Officers have the power to require a school to be used free of charge at any election.

But the council was concerned about the disruption and learning hours lost through closure or partial closure of schools and began implementing a policy not to use schools as polling places, if an alternative is available within the polling district.
