Hey Friend,
I’m Ryan Garcia, your new Political Director at the Texas Democratic Party, and I wanted to reach out to tell you a little bit about myself and talk about what’s at stake in this critical election year.
I couldn't be more excited to be joining the Texas Democratic Party at such a critical moment for our party. There’s no doubt that Texas is the next frontier for Democrats nationwide. From supporting candidates in all 254 counties to building relationships with grassroots Democrats in every corner of the state, it’s going to take a Texas-sized effort to achieve the goals we’ve set for ourselves this year. But I know with the heart, ingenuity, and hard work that Texans are known for, we can make it happen.
Friend, I honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t care about government. As a first grader, I’ll never forget the look of shock on the librarian’s face when I came to check out a stack of presidential biographies. From a young age, I recognized the power of government and public service to make people’s lives better.
My grandfather came to the U.S. as a migrant farmworker in the 50’s under the Bracero Program, bringing the rest of my family years later from Mexico. And I often think about the ways in which policies, made by the people we elect, have created opportunities for my family or put additional obstacles in our way.
After spending a few years in the Texas Legislature first as an intern and eventually as a Legislative Director, I wanted to bring my work back to my hometown of San Antonio. I started out working with the San Antonio City Council, and let me tell you, nothing teaches you the importance of government like local government. Whether it was fixing a pothole, installing a new traffic light, or getting someone’s garbage picked up, the work we did had a real impact.
But government is only as good as the people we elect to represent us, so I started running campaigns up and down the ballot in San Antonio. From Mayor to County Sheriff, I helped to elect more than 20 incredible leaders in the city I call home. Leaders who have fought to enact policies that make a real difference in people's lives.
And that’s what brought me here, to the Texas Democratic Party: a desire to support our Democratic leaders all across our state. At the end of the day, our goal is to build towards a state government that works for us, not against us. That fights for the changes that Texans want. From securing medicaid expansion to bringing our power grid into the 21st century, we need leaders that are fighting for working Texans.
In order to make that happen, we need to elect changemakers to every level of leadership in our state. And the first step is Tuesday’s Primary Election. We’re working around the clock to turn out Texas Democrats in every corner of the state. But we need your support in our final push to Election Day. Will you rush $7 before our critical end-of-month deadline to power our effort to get out the vote?

It’s Texas Democrats like you that make our party what it is, and I want you to know how grateful I am to be working alongside you. Whether this is your first time hearing from us or you’ve been with us for years, I'm excited to have you on our team as we meet the challenges of the year ahead.
Always moving forward,
Ryan Garcia
