Just when we think Republicans can’t go lower, they do. Last week Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a sick and disgusting policy: He wants to charge parents of transgender children with child abuse.

This latest effort to target transgender kids and their families is nothing more than a political sham. And asking citizens to report transgender youth and their families will further put these children at risk.

Governor Abbott (and every member of the GOP) needs to stop using transgender children as punching bags to score points with their bigotted base in an election year.

Texas deserves a governor who will stand up for its most vulnerable populations instead of hurting our children. Texas needs Beto O’Rourke. Chip in now to his campaign and send Greg Abbott packing.
