THEN: Polling showed that Sen. Grassley is facing RECORD LOW approval ratings – and Iowa's most prominent pollster pointed to "weakness" in his reelection bid. Sen. Grassley has never been more vulnerable.

BUT NOW: The GOP establishment is mobilizing to keep Iowa red at all costs.
