John, in recent years we’ve repeatedly been confronted by the fact that American democracy — even in the 21st century — is fragile.

Its survival relies on vigilance, on patriotism, and on courage. And when elections take place, it relies on putting country over party no matter the result.

Too many Republicans have failed in that duty and lack that courage.
