The Jewish Agency has received many
requests from Jews who wish to leave Ukraine. Jewish Federations
across Canada have launched fundraising appeals to help Jewish
Ukrainians. We encourage
those who would like to support fundraising efforts to contact

Last Thursday, Valley Park Middle School in Toronto reported two
disturbing incidents of antisemitism. This is the latest example of an
unacceptable trend, with antisemitic incidents, on average, taking
place weekly. As in most other instances, the principal took immediate
action to address the matter, and the TDSB will provide a Holocaust
education program for the entire school. However, no matter how
responsive and effective, these reactive interventions are
insufficient, and proactive education is required.
CIJA strongly supports two Private Members Bills, introduced
by MPs Kevin
Waugh and Peter
Julian, criminalizing Holocaust denial and hate symbols. Both are
vital steps that we call on Parliament to pursue.
While academic institutions have taken steps in recent years to
teach and promote diversity, information pertaining to antisemitism,
the Holocaust, and Jewish lived experience is omitted or, worse,
dismissed. Learn about CIJA's recommendations to extend
the standardized national social studies curriculum to include to
include Holocaust education, and to further the implementation of the
IHRA definition of antisemitism here.
