Hey John – sorry for reaching out so early, but I'm just having my morning coffee while reviewing some campaign updates and had to send you a note. 

First, I wanted to thank you for being a member of this grassroots team. Even opening messages like this one to hear from me about our campaign to defeat Sen. Grassley means a great deal.
Secondly, I wanted to give you an update on the state of this race: Thanks to wealthy donors and his pal Donald Trump rallying with him here in Iowa, Sen. Grassley hauled in over $1.4 million in just a few months. 

As someone who grew up in Sherrill, Iowa – a town that has more cows than people – I can't stress enough just how far $1.4 million can go in our state.  

Here's the good news though: Sen. Grassley's raking in cash because he's scared. First, nearly two-thirds of likely Iowa voters indicated they thought he should retire. Then, after a poll revealed he has record-low approval ratings with Iowans, a top Iowa pollster said Sen. Grassley is facing "weakness" in his reelection bid.

$1.4 million doesn't scare me. Sen. Grassley and Donald Trump and the GOP establishment that's backing him don't scare me. We can beat this guy, but to do it, we've got to have resources of our own. We've got to hit the grassroots fundraising goals we set for ourselves.
