John,
I’m Laphonza Butler, the president of EMILY’s List — an organization dedicated to helping elect Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot.
I’m thrilled to be reaching out today on behalf of Alisha Shelton, who is running to be the first woman to ever represent her district in Congress and the first-ever Black Congresswoman from Nebraska.
I’m hoping you can support Alisha’s campaign with a contribution of $5 or more ahead of her end-of-month fundraising deadline.

Alisha and I have a lot in common. We both have a history of working with unions, we are both inspired by the perseverance of our mothers, and we are both Black women committed to defending reproductive rights.
Alisha has stepped up to challenge a GOP incumbent in one of 2022’s highest-stakes House races because she recognizes the urgent need for leaders who will prioritize what’s best for their constituents, not special interests and not personal profit.
John, the stakes are too high to sit this one out. Democratic majorities up and down the ballot are our only defense against an anti-democratic, anti-choice Republican agenda becoming the law of the land — and Democrats holding the House majority starts with Alisha flipping this seat in 2022.
Please consider rushing $5, $10, or whatever you can spare to ensure Alisha has the resources she needs to flip this seat and become Nebraska’s first Black Congresswoman.
