This week, President Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

Judge Jackson is eminently qualified and would be an important addition to the Court.

I’m glad that President Biden made good on his promise to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court. As the former Chief Justice of North Carolina's Supreme Court, I firmly believe that our Supreme Court — like all institutions — must reflect the diversity of our nation.

Now, we know there are those who will try to delay or stop this process. But we must demand that Judge Jackson receive fair consideration from every U.S. Senator as this process moves forward.

Please add your name today to tell the U.S. Senate to give Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson fair consideration. We must not tolerate any obstruction or delays to fill this crucial Supreme Court vacancy.

This historic moment is long overdue. I was a practicing lawyer before I ever saw a Black woman presiding over her own courtroom. It was a life-changing moment, and I know this moment will inspire so many across our country.
