This Ft. Collins forum demonstrated it perfectly. John, Today's GOP is rotten to the core (see: National GOP declares January 6 Capitol riots "legitimate political discourse"), but the brand here in Colorado is as crazy as it gets. This particular strain of Trumpism and conspiracy mongering is dangerous—and it must be defeated now, before it is too late. For instance, here is State Rep. Ron Hanks, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Colorado: "Hanks, a Republican from Canon City running for U.S. Senate, spoke about his belief in the conspiracy theory that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. 'Before I was sworn in, I went to Jan. 6 in (Washington) D.C. to see what was happening with our country and our elections. I do believe that they were stolen,' he said to large applause." (Source: Colorado Newsline, GOP candidates push anti-mandate, election conspiracy messages at Fort Collins forum, 2/21/2022) Or take Tina Peters, who we have profiled before: Peters allowed an unauthorized person to tamper with voting machines during a routine audit in 2021. Tina Peters is now under a grand jury investigation for her actions as Mesa County Clerk, but that isn't stopping her from running for Secretary of State—a position which would allow her to oversee every election in the state and have her thumb on the scale for Trump in 2024. You have to stamp out dangerous ideologies based on falsehoods, unfounded conspiracy theories, and bigotry. We are building the digital infrastructure to reach thousands of voters, but we need your involvement—anything you can give will help us turn out progressive and Independent voters throughout Colorado to beat back these extremists before it is too late: If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Express Donate: $5 Express Donate: $15 Express Donate: $25 Express Donate: $50 Express Donate: $100 Or, donate another amount Thank you for contributing to this urgent work. -CTP Team The Colorado Turnout Project
