Another year without tax reform means another year of the ultra-wealthy
and ultra-profitable corporations cheating the system while working people
pay their fair share.

Here’s what Katie’s proposing we do to create a more fair system:

* Give IRS workers the resources they need to do their job. This will
allow them to deal with offshore and complex tax evasion, cracking
down on cheating. It’s estimated that fully funding the IRS would
retrieve trillions of dollars owed. Funding the IRS also helps all
tax-paying Americans, who might have a question, make a mistake on
their tax return, or need their refund quickly. A properly staffed IRS
can handle all of these things, but right now there are major delays.
* Close loopholes that have allowed massive corporations to pay little
to no taxes. In 2020 over 50 of the largest companies in the US paid
$0 in federal income tax.
* Crack down on tax havens. Legislation to crack down on international
stock evasion was included in the Build Back Better Act, but it’s been
opposed by Republicans.
