John,

I am writing to you today as a member of the Social Safety Net Subcommittee of City Council’s Special Committee on Poverty Reduction and Prevention. Under direction from City Council, this subcommittee has been charged with developing an action plan to move 100,000 Philadelphians out of poverty by 2024.

Over the past few months, we have been hard at work, reviewing and building on the foundational efforts by many in the city who have grappled with the problem of persistent poverty in Philadelphia. We have identified preliminary recommendations to strengthen the social safety net, and I look forward to sharing them with you, your colleagues and your community members.

Please join us on Monday, November 18th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging 2nd-floor auditorium (642 N Broad Street). We want to hear your thoughts on the proposals and learn what is missing.

Sincerely,

Kathy Fisher
