It has been a heavy few days. As your Congresswoman, I need to have all irons in the fire. My prayers are with the Ukrainian people and the Connecticut Ukrainian-American community. While the news from Europe is still unfolding, our work here at home must continue.

At home, President Biden made a historic announcement with his nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court, and I look forward to her swift confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Meanwhile, the news from my re-election campaign has not slowed down… let me get you up to speed:

First, I have been under attack from right-wing media for months now. Misinformation and desperate mud-slinging is flying across conservative websites and social media – and it is national Republicans pushing these lies.

Then, Connecticut finalized our new Congressional maps. After months of hearings, redistricting commission meetings and discussions, and ultimately, Connecticut Supreme Court jurisdiction, the new Congressional maps for Connecticut are final. After all that, the changes to CT-05 are minimal, with just a small population shift in Torrington – and I look forward to continuing to serve my constituents.

Now, we are facing our first fundraising deadline since the maps were finalized and the attacks on me ramped up. We cannot afford to take a step back with all eyes on our campaign to see if the attacks are making a difference in the new CT-05.

With the balance of power in Congress resting on less than a handful of Democratic seats in toss-up districts like CT-05, we need to keep this seat blue. It’s the difference between the steady leadership we have now and the likes of Kevin McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jim Jordan being in charge. Period.
