Dear John,
Last Friday, Representatives Grace Meng (NY-6), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) and Mike Doyle (PA-18) introduced the Autism Family Caregivers Act of 2022. This bill will provide evidence-based skills training for caregivers of children with autism and other developmental disabilities and delays. By creating a nationwide pilot program, this legislation will help empower caregivers with important tools to use at home to improve communication, social and daily living skills.
Our work is just beginning. We need your help to ensure that members of the U.S. House of Representatives hear from supporters like you about why they should support this important bill. Make sure the House hears your voice loud and clear!
Caregiver skills training programs teach family caregivers how to use everyday routines and home activities to improve the mental and physical well-being of their children, including by addressing communication skills, daily living skills, social engagement and behavior management. Particularly for caregivers in underserved communities, this innovative approach can be helpful in improving the health and well-being of children with autism and other developmental disabilities and delays. Read more about the bill online.
By taking action today, you can help build momentum for the Autism Family Caregivers Act in Congress. Ask for your representative's support today!
Thank you for your continued advocacy! We look forward to updating you on the bill’s progress.
Best,
Angela Lello
Senior Director of Public Policy
