Monthly Prayer Alert from Carol Bauer Fighting For Faith, Family & Freedom Saturday, February 26, 2022 To: Friends & Supporters From: Carol Bauer As you know, my wife, Carol, prepares a monthly prayer alert. I hope you will share Carol's thoughts with your friends and fellow worshipers. Thank you for taking an interest in her monthly devotion. --Gary The world has become more dangerous and complicated over the last twelve months. The leader of the free world sends confusing signals, and seems to have a foreign policy that is purely reactive in nature. An overarching, coherent and predictable strategy is absent. Gone are the days when our foreign policy could be viewed and predicted through an America First, but not an America alone, lens. Yet, in this moment it is critical for the United States to have a president steeped in knowledge and steadfast in resolve, and advocating a foreign policy that reflects strong leadership. Every decision must be based on what is best for our country's interests. And yet, we have a president who seems weak, hesitant and unable to forcefully project American values. What better example than the fact that thirteen months ago the greatest economy in the world was a net energy exporter and not dependent on adversaries for energy supplies. Now, in the blink of an eye we have to import oil from our mortal enemies because our president is waging war on our energy industry. We beg allies and enemies alike for their energy when we refuse to use our own domestic sources. It's frustrating, humiliating and dangerous. The bottom line is this. We are in a precarious international situation marked by hesitant, rudderless leadership here at home. Abroad, we are faced with strong, authoritative leaders in China, Russia and Iran, who sense an opportune moment to move on multiple fronts. The uncertainty of where we are headed and how our current leadership will define the world our children and grandchildren inherit is downright scary. The fact that the current administration has nearly 3 more years to govern magnifies the concern. The worries of open and lawless borders, rising crime and historic inflation have now been joined with a major land war in Europe. Are we to despair? Of course, not. One of the most frequent commands in the Bible is "Fear not." Lord, give us courage. These are challenging days for our nation, and it is easy to feel helpless and hopeless. The uncertainties are great and our current leadership does not seem up to the task at hand. Though partisanship may divide us, we join together in prayer for those who are guiding our foreign policy. We pray for strength, resolve and the willingness and ability to look at all decision making through the lens of what is best for America's freedom-loving place in the world. We ask that You put up roadblocks to halt the aggression of totalitarian leaders who don't respect individual rights and freedoms. Lay before their manmade schemes many God-ordained obstacles which put their plans in disarray. At the same time, raise up leaders who recognize the importance of this historical time, and give them the leadership skills and communication tools to meet the moment. Give us Your peace and strength. Heavenly Father, we pray for the citizens of Ukraine who had seemed so certain that there would not be an invasion. Open their eyes to the evil before them and strengthen their resolve to stand up for the freedoms and prosperity they have enjoyed. Give them resolve and cleverness as they see their country attacked from within and without. Raise heroes in their midst and keep open lines of communication so that they may be emboldened by one another. Pray for their leaders that they might meet the challenge with boldness, calm and strength. Finally, as midterm elections approach, I encourage each of you to stay focused on getting family, friends and neighbors registered to vote. Be aware of the various election integrity efforts that are being undertaken in your state. Support those and get involved as you are able. Don't let the corporate press convince you that requiring a voter ID to cast a ballot is "Jim Crow on steroids." The Honest Elections Project found 81% of surveyed voters support requiring a photo ID to cast a ballot. A wide variety of polls and outlets have found similar results. And yet, in the District of Columbia there is a proposal to allow people to vote by phone! Commonsense efforts to secure the chain of custody of voting machines and paper ballots, paring back early and mail-in voting options to pre-pandemic norms and reserving the right to vote for U.S. citizens are not "voter suppression" efforts or attempts to keep eligible people from voting. Ask the Lord to guide you in how you may do your part to preserve the rights and freedoms we enjoy, including the right to practice our faith in our homes and in the public square.
