Friend,
The Senate is set to vote on the historic Women’s Health Protection Act this Monday, February 28. This is our best chance to safeguard reproductive rights for all of us.
The Women’s Health Protection Act is crucial federal legislation that establishes the right to abortion care -- no matter where someone lives in the U.S. -- in federal law.
Simply put, we need the WHPA now more than ever. With restrictions against abortion continuing across the country, with three states passing abortion bans just this month, and the Supreme Court set to rule on whether to overturn Roe v. Wade this summer, it’s critical that our senators defend Americans' rights to accessible and safe abortion.
Act now: Write to your senators now and urge them to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to fight back against restrictive abortion laws across the country: [link removed]
Here’s how the WHPA secures our right and access to abortion care:
- Upholds the right to access abortion throughout the United States.
- Protects against bans and medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion, including mandatory waiting periods, biased counseling, mandatory ultrasounds, and more.
- Establishes a statutory right for health care professionals to provide abortion care and the right for their patients to receive care.
The WHPA strengthens economic and racial justice, too. If the WHPA passes, those hurt most by abortion restrictions -- including Black, Indigenous and people of color, women, low-income, young people, and more -- will be one step closer to equal access to safe and affordable abortion care, as the WHPA protects their rights through federal law.
A ZIP code shouldn’t decide whether someone can access needed health care. Write your senators now and urge them to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act.
