Friend,
Like many of you, I am overcome with sadness to see the conflict in Ukraine escalate. The true cost of war is felt by everyday people, and the images and stories of people fleeing Kyiv has me thinking about the many people in our community from all over the world who have fled conflict to come build a life in Queens. While my work in the State Senate does not give me jurisdiction over foreign policy, I do have the power to make New York a safe and welcoming place.
In my NY1 interview last week, I discussed my plans for the Governor’s budget, including providing child care for working families. We also discussed economic recovery and how the budget can work to provide for those New Yorkers who continue to struggle to get back on their feet after the pandemic.
