Earlier today, news broke that President Biden has nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson’s years of service as a Public Defender, Vice Chair of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, District Court Judge and Court of Appeals Judge provide her with the resume and undeniable qualifications to be elevated to the highest court in the land.

This nomination comes at a deeply pivotal time in our nation. There has never been a Black woman to serve as a member of the Supreme Court. That is a glaring indictment of our country, and one that we can begin to rectify by confirming Judge Jackson.

We have a rare opportunity to make history in so many ways in 2022.

From electing the first Black Senator to represent Kentucky, to confirming the first Black woman to join the Supreme Court — this is our chance to send folks to Washington D.C. who will fight for the people-first change we need in our politics.
