Dear John,

The Elliott State Forest bill (SB 1546) just passed out of Ways & Means and is on its way to the senate floor sometime next week. With your help, this legislation could pass with massive bipartisan support! Ask your state senator and state representative to vote yes when it goes to the floor [[link removed]].

SB 1546 would protect the Elliott State Forest as a research forest, and create a new standalone entity to look after it. It would also decouple the Elliott from the Common School Fund, an outdated system that uses logging money to fund Oregon schools.

The Elliott is a magnificent and beloved place. One of the last stretches of old-growth forest in the coast range, the Elliott provides a unique and much-needed habitat for species that depend on it, like spotted owls, marbled murrelets, and more. The Elliott was almost sold off in 2017, but a coalition led by OLCV helped save it from logging. Will you take the next step and help protect the Elliott for years to come? Please ask your state senator and representative to vote yes on SB 1546 [[link removed]].

This bill is going to final votes by the house and senate soon, so please take action and take a stand for the Elliott [[link removed]].

Thank you,
Julia DeGraw
Coalition Director, OLCV
