Friend — The historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the nation's highest Court is a milestone in the fight for racial justice and equity. Judge Jackson's distinguished service on the D.C. Circuit and D.C. District Courts, as well as the U.S. Sentencing Commission, makes her exceptionally well-qualified.
This moment proves just how consequential our elections are. Two years ago today, President Biden vowed on the campaign trail to nominate the first Black woman to the Supreme Court. Now, we have a fair-minded jurist who will uphold the promise of equal justice under law as our nominee.
Judge Jackson has been confirmed three times previously on bipartisan votes — and there is no reason why she should not be confirmed now.
The Senate must confirm Judge Jackson to the Supreme Court, as she has proved her character, integrity, and dedication to the Constitution and rule of law.
Our environmental laws are only as strong as the judges who enforce them. The next Supreme Court Justice will have a critical role in upholding environmental justice legislation, enforcing climate and conservation laws, and holding big polluting corporations accountable. And given that communities of color bear the brunt of the climate crisis and are the targets for voter suppression laws, we
need a justice who will make decisions with the best interest of communities of color in mind.
Please, can you urge your Senators to act quickly and confirm Judge Jackson, a historic and highly qualified nominee, to the Supreme Court?
Thank you,
Doug Lindner
