Today, President Biden nominated Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court. This nomination is a long-overdue step towards a Court that better represents all of us. And it is a giant step towards equal justice for us all.
Now it is time for us to get to work.
The confirmation fight has already begun. Republicans have already claimed that President Biden’s nominee would be unfit and less qualified — and conservative groups have pledged more than $8 million to defeat her confirmation. Now that Ketanji Brown Jackson has been nominated, Republicans are preparing to attack even harder. We cannot allow Republican obstruction to make her another Merrick Garland.
Ketanji Brown Jackson is an excellent choice to be a Supreme Court Justice. She would bring brilliance, unquestioned qualifications, and sound judicial temperament to the Supreme Court. She has an established track record of recognizing equality and justice for all people. Indeed, her record as a judge and lawyer demonstrates that she is a fair, impartial jurist, dedicated to protecting the fundamental rights of all litigants.
It’s time to step up for Black women. We must move to get Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmed. Now is the time to take action.
