Last Friday we held our Judging Summit to select the TOM FORD Plastic Innovation Prize Finalists who will move forward into the testing phase of this competition!

"All of it was inspiring" -Prize Judge

Our judging panel [[link removed]] included some of the brightest minds in social and environmental impact, fashion, activism, technology, and sustainability. What stood out most is how deeply the judges care about the ocean and how that is driving the care and attention they are putting into working together to solve the problem of thin-film plastic.

A key focus for the judges was ensuring that the solutions we choose to move forward in the competition do not cause any further harm to people or the planet. One of our judges put it succinctly: “Ultimately what we are going for is something that could potentially make an impact globally.”

Together, we looked at each entry holistically, attentively analyzing the material inputs, water usage, end of life, additives, as well as any health and economic effects faced by local communities that may result from the scaling of each solution.
