Dear Friend,

As Black History Month comes to a close, I’m writing to thank you for: learning more about civil rights hero Bayard Rustin; reading our interview with Board Member and Client, Oliver Anene; and condemning the killing of Amir Locke and the racist systems that perpetuate this violence.

The stories of these three individuals make clear to me that our racial justice work is critical all year long. And as we look ahead, we follow the path already created by black-led organizations. We also encourage you to support their work with a donation.

Black & Pink - dedicated to abolishing the criminal punishment system and liberating LGBTQ and HIV-positive people who are affected by that system through advocacy, support, and organizing.

G.L.I.T.S. - aims to change systemic and economical oppressions of marginalized communities both in NYC and globally.

For the Gworls - a collective that curates parties to fundraise money to help Black transgender people pay for their rent, gender-affirming surgeries, smaller co-pays for medicines/doctor’s visits, and travel assistance.

Thank you,

Amitesh Parikh, Senior Staff Attorney
