Hi, John! The state legislative session just closed, and Gov. Lujan Grisham was able to make bold progress because of your grassroots support. Today, we wanted to highlight some of our biggest achievements.
Free Higher Education
The state legislature just passed Gov. Lujan Grisham's New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship Act, which will provide FREE higher education to every eligible New Mexican student.
Not only will this law remove financial barriers to accessing education, but it will also allow more New Mexicans to work in high-demand fields like teaching, medicine, and trades. It's a big win for both families and businesses across our state.

Pay Raises for Educators
Gov. Lujan Grisham believes that New Mexico's educators deserve better compensation. That's why she called on the state legislature to raise teacher base salaries by an average of 20% – and the state legislature just unanimously voted to pass her bill.
Raising pay for educators will attract the best teachers in the region, increase teacher retention, and keep students physically in school during our country's teacher shortage.

Cutting Taxes
In a bipartisan vote, the House and Senate passed legislation to cut taxes. The bill will eliminate the tax on Social Security benefits for most seniors, create a Child Tax Credit to support working families, and cut gross receipts taxes for the first time in 40 years.
Once this law is enacted, it will keep nearly $200 million in the pockets of New Mexicans statewide, which is a priority for Gov. Lujan Grisham as she continues to provide relief and support for New Mexico families.
