NY State Energy Efficiency, Equity, & Jobs Act Advocacy Day
Help Us Get Our Fair Share of Energy Efficiency Upgrade Funding & Jobs
People living in low-income communities and communities of color spend a disproportionate amount of their household income on their energy bill. And they’re also often left out in the cold when it comes to programs designed to reduce energy usage and the financial burden it can cause. Our communities deserve equitable funding for energy efficiency upgrades, including the removal of mold, lead, and asbestos, along with the jobs this will create. Our New York State Energy Efficiency, Equity, & Jobs Act ([link removed]) will ensure that you aren’t left out in the cold as the state works to reduce energy usage. Join us on Wednesday, March 2 for a virtual advocacy day from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to urge lawmakers to pass this bill! RSVP here ([link removed]) .

Renewable Rikers Anniversary
Today marks the one-year anniversary of passing the Renewable Rikers Act ([link removed]) . So far, more than 10 percent of the island has been transferred out of the control of the New York City Department of Correction. We will continue to work with the Renewable Rikers coalition, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, and the New York City Council to advance the transformation of the island, creating a solar farm that can generate enough renewable energy to close the polluting peaker plants and providing good, green jobs for those who have been harmed by the legacy of Rikers.
