When I speak with Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth, one question comes up time and again: “So, what does a Lieutenant Governor do anyway?”
Well, John, the job of the Lieutenant Governor is threefold:
*
Chair
the
Board
of
Pardons
—
The
Board
has
the
great
responsibility
to
review
criminal
cases
and
recommend
clemencies
to
the
Governor.
I’m
the
only
Democrat
in
this
race
running
to
reform
our
criminal
justice
system
and
I’ll
fight
hard
to
correct
the
harms
perpetuated
by
our
current
system.
*
Oversee
the
Pennsylvania
Senate
and
serve
as
the
Governor’s
eyes
and
ears
on
critical
issues.
I’ve
lived
by
and
worked
under
the
rules
of
the
Senate
for
over
a
decade
while
serving
as
a
State
Representative
in
the
House.
*
Chair
the
Emergency
Management
Council
when
the
Governor
calls
for
an
emergency
order
including
the
current
state
of
emergency
our
state
is
in
due
to
the
COVID-19
pandemic.
It's
the
Lieutenant
Governor's
job
to
convene
experts
to
address
the
crisis
at
hand.
For too long, our state’s broken politics have prevented progress on the issues that you care about most: affordable health care, criminal justice reform, and a fair and just economy. I’m the only candidate for Lieutenant Governor with over a decade of legislative experience that will help me guide the Senate to be a tool for working Pennsylvanians, and I need your support.
Together, we're the antidote to Pennsylvania's broken politics, John. Pitch in $10 — or what works best for your budget — to help me win this race.
