John, in just a moment I’m going to ask for your support in our primary election, where voters will start heading to the polls in just over ten weeks! But since you’re a close supporter, let me take a moment to explain our campaign strategy at the moment and why I need your help:

In case you missed it, the Atlanta paper of record profiled our primary election this week. They explained why this race is going to be very competitive, and here’s what it boils down to:

This election will be decided by just a few percentage points and I’m up against a very strong challenger, communicating to some brand new constituents who have never had the opportunity to vote for me.

That means we’ve got to make up extra ground with our voter contact efforts, and do extra work to make sure everyone knows my background: Why I ran for Congress, what I’m doing to advocate for gun safety, and how I’m telling my son Jordan’s story far and wide.

To stay on track to win, we’ve got a sizable budget gap we need to close in the next 74 days before early voting starts. Hitting this target will be a big factor in determining if we can reach the necessary number of voters to win, if we can fully fund our organizing “ground game,” and if we’ve got enough budget behind paid advertising.

That’s why my campaign team and I set an ambitious $50,000 February online fundraising goal at the beginning of the month to make sure our budget stays on track. Right now, we’re still $10,267.00 away from hitting it.
