Today, President Biden is announcing his pick to replace Justice Breyer on the Supreme Court, and today marks two years to the day since Biden made his initial pledge to choose the first Black woman justice.
This nomination is cause for joy and celebration. As the Supreme Court is poised to imminently overturn Roe v. Wade, despite the vast majority of Americans supporting the right to abortion care, we need the Senate to do everything possible to confirm Judge Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

In the history of the Supreme Court, all but seven justices have been white men, and we have never had a Black woman on the bench. We could be at a crucial turning point in restoring representative legitimacy to the Court with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination.
As voting rights and abortion access remain at stake, along with so many other critical issues, we need a Supreme Court that reflects our prochoice majority nation.
