The upcoming election is important for a lot of reasons – it will serve as a referendum on whether or not Trumpism is still alive and well in America, it will dictate which party controls Congress, and it will be my daughter’s first time voting!

This photo is of me and my daughter gathering petitions to get me on the ballot. It’s heartening to see my daughter and her friends participating in politics. I remember how inspired I felt voting in my first election, and I hope she and her peers feel the same way.

Young people like my daughter are the future of this country. I’m running for re-election to fight for their futures – to promote economic opportunity, to implement common-sense policies to combat climate change, and to ensure college is an affordable, attainable option.

But I need to hold my seat in order to make that a reality.
