RUIN
A little girl who disguises herself as an old man, an addict who collects dollhouse furniture, a crime reporter confronted by a talking dog, a painter trying to prove the non-existence of god, and lovers in a penal colony who communicate through technical drawings—these are just a few of the characters who live among the ruins. RUIN is both bracingly timely and eerily timeless in its examination of an American state in free-fall, unsparing in its disregard for broken institutions, while shining with compassion for all who are left in their wake. Cara Hoffman’s short fictions are brutal, surreal, hilarious, and transgressive, celebrating the sharp beauty of outsiders and the infinitely creative ways humans muster psychic resistance under oppressive conditions. The ultimate effect of these ten interconnected stories is one of invigoration and a sense of possibilities—hope for a new world extracted from the rubble of the old.

The Clash: All the Albums, All the Songs
THE STORIES BEHIND EVERY STUDIO TRACK FROM THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERS.
Established in 1976 at the fore London’s punk rock insurgence, The Clash would outlast their peers while creating some of the most influential albums in rock ’n’ roll history. Author Martin Popoff dissects each of the Clash’s ninety-one studio tracks, examining the circumstances that led to their creation, the recording processes, the historical contexts and more. In addition, introductory essays set the scene for the band’s six studio releases (including the double LP London Calling and the triple Sandinista!) and feature sidebars detailing studios, release dates, personnel, and more. Illustrated with rare performance and offstage photography, along with images of 7-inch singles sleeves and gig posters, the resulting volume is a fitting tribute to the foursome whose staunch political stance and groundbreaking amalgam of punk, rockabilly, reggae, and hip-hop earned the title “The Only Band That Matters.”

Where Does Your FOPM Money Go?
Books cost money to produce. Lots of money. The average book costs us roughly $10,000 to produce. Your monthly subscription significantly helps to offset these costs, allowing us greater freedoms as an independent publisher. So where does your money go? Below is a brief outline of how your subscription directly impacts each and every book we decide to publish.
Printing
25% of your subscription money typically goes to the printer. The price of a book is, in part, determined by the cost of printing, which continues to rise each year. Your subscription helps to offset the cost of printing, making our books more affordable and accessible.
Production
30% of your subscription money helps cover the cost of production. Real humans with real lives do the work at PM Press. Editing, design, and warehouse management are just a few of the activities that require enormous amounts of labor.
Promotion and Distribution
What good is an unread book? Promotion and distribution account for about 35% of your subscription money. In addition to maintaining our webstore and shipping thousands of books from our warehouse each year, we also tirelessly hit the road bringing books to hundreds of diverse social gatherings throughout the world.
Royalties
Call us old-fashioned, but not only do we actually copyedit, proof, and actively promote all of our books, but we even pay our authors royalties! 10% or more of every sale—irrespective of whether the production costs have been recouped. Your subscription further helps ensure our always-prompt payment to our authors for their vital, educational, entertaining, and enlightening labors.
