In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to my re-election campaign before our February fundraising drive comes to a close. Please give me a chance to explain why this request — especially today — is so important.

Here is the truth:

It’s no secret that I have been an outspoken critic of those who stand in the way of protecting voting rights, raising the minimum wage, and forcing drug companies to negotiate lower prices.

It’s no secret I believe we have a choice between ending the filibuster or accepting the end of democracy, that norms and rules will not save us.

That makes me a few enemies — people, corporations, and special interests that would love to defeat me. Because they know the stronger we are, the harder it is to protect the status on this issues, and on the filibuster.

So here is the part where I ask:
